HbbTV and the need for flow, central axis of the XXV Cable and Broadband Catalonia Congress
The growth of the interactive audio-visual offer, headed by the HbbTV (Hybrid broadcast broadband Television), and the need for broadband will focus the contents of the XXV Cable and Broadband Catalonia Congress-2020, which will take place on 31 March and April 1 organized by the Cable Studies Center (CECABLE), Blanquerna-Ramon Llull University, Official College of Technical Telecommunications Engineers of Catalonia (COETTC) and Catalan Federation of Telecommunications Installers (Feceminte) in the Blanquerna Auditorium of the Ramon Llull University, in the center of Barcelona. “Companies and home users are increasingly requesting guaranteed broadband, which can withstand intensive demands and interactive services,” says the director of CECABLE and university professor, Dr. Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón.
The event, which will feature numerous conferences of companies and entities, is integrated into the project “New Forms of Interactive Advertising on Television, Internet and Digital Media. Real Applications on HbbTV” (URL, Cellnex and CECABLE), funded by the Ministry of Economy and Business. Together with the URL, the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Mediterrani University School of the University of Girona, Cesine University Center, University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Open University of Catalonia, Camilo José Cela University, EAE Business School, Euncet and Polytechnic University of Catalonia collaborate in the Congress. The event analyzes strategic parameters of telecommunications: the evolution of fixed and mobile broadband networks, changes in content and the effects of market standards, especially on HbbTV and 5G.

In the first session, which will analyse on March 31 “Broadband in Catalonia and Spain”, will feature the round table on HbbTV and interactivity for operators, will participate companies and entities such as Wifidom, Xarxa Oberta de Catalunya (XOC), Microsoft-Seidor, Yoigo-Grupo MásMóvil, Telefónica, Orange, Cellnex, Sony Europe, Phicus Technology, Aire Networks, Furukawa or Anxanet. In the round table “HbbTV and interactivity for operators” will participate CECABLE, IntadTV, Alpha Telecommunications Engineering, Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA), Feceminte or IntadTV. On April 1, with the participation of Amara, Intracom Telecom, BT Global Services, D-Link Iberia, RegionTel and Keynet, it will focus on “Broadband solutions and impacts” and will include the round table “What services can boost the Catalan telecommunication market? with CECABLE, Generalitat de Cataluña, Feceminte, COETTC, Catalan Association of Telecommunications Engineers (Telecos.cat), National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC), AOTEC and XOC. The main social networks will allow to follow and comment on the event.
