Dr. Joan Francesc Fondevila wins Amnesty International’s Human Rights Award
Dr. Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón from Terrasse, president of the Catalan Communication Society-Institute of Catalan Studies (SCC-IEC) and director of the Cable Studies Center (CECABLE), has won the 6th Human Rights Micro-Story Contest Amnesty International, delivered in Plasència (Cáceres) on the occasion of Human Rights Day, thanks to the work “Estrella iluminada”, inspired by article 3 of the Declaration of Human Rights, in which in poetic prose he writes a metaphor about the fight for life, liberty and security in time of war.
“I am excited and happy to have won this Prize, for the deep and beautiful values that are inherent in it and for the current situation, in which human rights should be above everything”, explains the writer from Terrassa, who, as the winner of the first prize will receive a work of art by a renowned Extremadura artist.
The contest is organized by Amnesty International Extremadura, and its primary objective is to encourage critical reflection on human rights and literary creation, as well as to publicize the work of Amnesty International in the promotion and defense of human rights everywhere Of the world.
The micro-stories will be published on the Amnesty International Extremadura blog (blogs.es.amnesty.org/extremadura/) and in Amnesty International Extremadura’s six-monthly newsletter “We are Activists”. Fondevila assigns to Amnesty International free of charge the editorial rights of reproduction, distribution, transformation, public communication and any other rights necessary for the total or partial dissemination of the same in any medium and for the maximum period permitted by law.
“With kindness, generosity and dialogue, any conflict can be resolved,” explains Professor and Doctor Fondevila, professor at several universities, who has also recently won the QP International Scientific Prize, the Serranía Literary Prize of Guadalajara and the V International Storytelling Prize about Olivar, Aceite de Oliva and Oleoturismo (two wins: Social Networks and Audience Awards). Throughout his career, Fondevila has won numerous awards for his scientific, literary, teaching and management activities.
