The XXI Cable and Broadband Catalonia Congress will take place from 3 to 5 May in 22@ of Barcelona
The XXI Cable and Broadband Catalonia Congress-2016, organized by the Centre for the Study of Cable (CECABLE) and the Observatory of Scientific Communication at the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF), will take place from 3 to 5 May 2016 in 22@, in Barcelona (Auditorium of the Campus of Communication, which brings together the Faculty of Communication and the Polytechnic School). The event has the support of Acotec (Catalan Association of Telecommunications Operators Cable), the Escola Universitària Mediterrani of the University of Girona, the Faculty of Communication and International Relations at the Universidad Ramon Llull, University Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Open University of Catalonia.
The event examines the strategic factors of telecommunications in Catalonia (technological developments, consumer behaviour, need for constant connectivity and guaranteed or competition). “The Broadband Society priorizas network expansion and content creation. The Congress will discuss these angular lines,” said Dr. Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón, CECABLE director and university professor (UPF, UdG, URL, UB UAB, UOC).

The first session will analyze May 3 “Broadband in Catalonia and Spain”, and, in the afternoon, “Content and services to broadband networks”, with the round table “The technological evolution of the historic Catalan and Spanish cable”. In the second session, on May 4, the items are “Evolution of type and installation for cable and broadband” and, in the afternoon, “New horizons for the computer industry”.
The third session, on May 5, entitled “Impact of various broadband networks”, will begin with the traditional institutional roundtable, this time on “How social progress resulting in the expansion of the broadband networks?”. It will include representatives of CECABLE, Government of Catalonia, CNMC, Feceminte, Telecos.cat, COETTC and XOC. The principal social networks (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest) allow the event to continue.
