Successful presentation of the novel “Milagro en el agua”, by Joan Francesc Fondevila, inspired by the 1962 flood and winner of the International Award of Erotic and Amorous Literature

“In life, love always triumphs.” This is how the Terrassa native Joan Francesc Fondevila Gascón concluded the presentation of the novel “Milagro en el agua”, winner of the 1st International Award of Erotic and Amorous Literature, organized by the Basque publishing house Berez Haziku. The Terrassa Central Library (BCT) was packed for a touching and emotional event.

The journalist Cecilia Martínez, presenter of the event, underlined “the love for Terrassa, the sensitivity and generosity” of Fondevila, and Alberto Uribarri, director of Berez Haziku, stated that “the book is beautiful, a true jewel that will delight audiences of all ages.” “The work, of a historical nature and with various love plots, is inspired by the 1962 flood that affected Terrassa and the surrounding area,” explained Fondevila. “It is an allegory, sprinkled with numerous fragments of poetic prose, in which the struggle for life and, above all, love, ultimately triumph.” This is the first foray into the novel by the author from Terrassa, winner of numerous literary awards in various genres (novel, poetry, short story, micro-story). “It is my first novel, set in Terrassa, and it is a great joy that it has been awarded,” says Fondevila. The novel “Milagro en el agua” tells several love stories connected by the flood that occurred in Terrassa and the surrounding area on September 25, 1962. A mixture of love, death and hope runs through the work, whose intersection is the life evolution of some of the survivors of the tragedy. The plot is full of real episodes and anecdotes from the flood.

The multifaceted Doctor Fondevila, University Professor, director of the Center for Cable Studies (CECABLE) and president of the philanthropic Catalan Society of Communication-Institute of Catalan Studies (SCC-IEC), has won numerous scientific, teaching, journalistic, management and literary awards. The most recent are the Serranía Literary Award of Guadalajara (2022), the International Prize for Short Stories about Olive Groves (2022), the Amnesty International Micro-Story Contest on Human Rights (2022), the Rimas para Debra Literary Prize (2023), the 1st International Award of Erotic and Amorous Literature (2024), the Micro-Story and Micro-Poem Contest “Romería de la Virgen de las Viñas” of Tomelloso (2024) and the José Nicolás Pascual Herrero Literary Award of Magaña (Soria) (2024).
